The origin of greed

This is the first action project of the year for out humanities course, Stories. For the first unit we talked a lot about different cultural origins for many things. The most common being the origin of how the earth was created. But for this Particular project, we were tasked with creating a story about the origin of anything. I decided to write my story on the origin of greed. I also created a drawing that would be the cover of the story. The following five paragraphs are the composition of my story. And below it is the image.

The origin of greed

The story of the origin of greed dates back to a time where the world didn't exist. A world before worlds, one where not even gods were in existence. This was the only world where the surrounding areas of space were cold, dark and miserable, like a moment of dead silence that stretched for an infinite amount of miles. The world that resided in this area was ruled by a being named Anomy. Though he was the ruler, everyone on this world was considered a being as well because they were not necessarily humans or animals, but they weren't gods or anything of that nature either. They were in between.

Anomy seemed to be a nice, bountiful ruler. He shared his food and wealth, and treated the citizens like equals as they all cherished him for being the great ruler that he was. Or so it seemed. That was just what the other beings on that world under Anomy’s rule had thought about him and what he had done. Anomy was really a pretty bad ruler in the fact that he ruled by keeping everyone dumbed down to the point where they were under an illusion of security and equality. They wouldn;t know what they needed to fight back. The way that Anomy was keeping them dumbed down was by stealing all of their competence and transferring it into himself. Why did he do it?, Well that’s because he had an issue with everyone being more intelligent and intricate than him. The only issue with stealing everybody’s competence and transferring them to himself was that, one, he couldn't carry it all and, two, the new born babies would grow up with intelligence. To combat both of these setbacks, he had every new baby be brought to his house to transfer their intelligence and put the intelligence into a huge vase that he created especially for this deed.

One day a child was born by the name of Asiah, but the mother didn’t take the baby to Anomy’s house for the intelligence transference. She was completely wrecked after she gave birth to the baby and was not able to, as a result of that. That child grew up noticing, observing, and intaking everything that was transpiring around him. Of course because he didn't have his intelligence stripped from him at birth, he grew tired and disgusted by how bad everyone was treated and how they didn't even realize it. He tried to tell his mother and everyone else, but they scolded him for doubting the intentions of their cherished ruler. He realized that Anomy had stolen their basic comprehension abilities. It was almost like they were in a trans or a virtual reality experience. Asiah knew that one day soon Anomy would catch on to what was happening. His integrity was being challenged and demeaned, and Asiah knew that he would be killed soon as a punishment. He resolved to retrieve everyone’s intelligence before that day came.

Asiah’s plan was simple. Because Anomy kept all of the intelligence in a large, green vase in his house, all Asiah had to do was either destroy the vase or kill Anomy. He spent days scouting the house for spots to either sit and snipe at the vase or raid the house and kill Anomy. He was prepared to do both but decided to go with the former. He spent many hours preparing for his assault. His weapon of choice for sniping was a slingshot that was capable of shooting up to 3,000 feet. He decided to prepare for close combat encounter by grabbing a few knives and trinkets. He also decided to take it a step further and set a couple of traps around the house so that Anomy couldn't flee the scene, or, to ensure that nobody could come and help. He was completely ready for his assault.

Asiah waited and waited for an opening to strike, and finally he got one. Anomy’s head peered out of the window to look down on the world and the sunrise. Just as he was looking at his confused subjects, He felt a sting in the side of his head. Almost as if he had been shot. He then saw the blood rushing down his face in large quantities. That's when he realized that he was the victim of a simulated coup d'etat. He was being killed. He was being done in. Asiah was shocked by how easy it was to kill Anomy, then he frantically unsheathed his knife and was able to successfully block a strike to the neck by Anomy. How did Anomy manage to trick a scouter for three days and find a chance to counter attack. Well he was the holder of all of the intelligence in the world. They battled for about thirty minutes, and they finally broke and talked to conceal their fatigue. Asiah had to ask. “Why did you decide to steal everyone’s intelligence and keep it for yourself?” As Asiah said that, he was secretly loading the slingshot. “Because I feel that is most important to use those around you to get what you want and so that you can stay on top. Why is that such a bad sentiment for you to understand?”Anomy said. Asiah yelled, “Well that's why everyone should just learn to help each other to get better. Its people like you that are the reason other people like you feel the need to use people to stay on top!” as he shot the loaded slingshot. This time when he shot the slingshot there was so much force from him becoming so emotional, that the pellet pierced Anomy’s body and sent an enormous gust of wind across the entire universe. This event caused that dead, vacant universe to grow and hold an explosion cause the creation of other worlds and set them spinning.
