Should access to food be a human right?

7.6 million. Does that seem like a lot? Yeah it does. Do you know what that number represents? No? Well that's the number of people that die, a year, because of hunger. Malnutrition has been the leading cause of death all over the globe since 1932. If you think about it it shouldn't seem so surprising. After all most hunger actually stems from poverty, which has been in existence for forever. The reason I am saying all of this is because zero hunger is not on the universal declaration of human rights.

As you may already know, Hunger is a really big issue. So why exactly has it not been resolved. That is a question that we are all asking ourselves and each other. Because this issue has not been resolved, there ended up being many consequences or casualties. In addition to the universal declaration of independence there is maslow's hierarchy of needs. On that hierarchy no hunger would fall under physiological needs. The physiological needs consist of the need for food, water shelter, oxygen and sleep.

There are many things that can be done to help decrease the number of people that starve. The first step to actually helping would be to communicate with that country to find out what can actually be done. In some situations both people and organizations have attempted to help while inferring that they knew the situation and just started “helping”. But in their doing that they ended up putting people out of jobs, destroying their sacred monuments, and etc.

In conclusion, I think that we should all press to get this into the universal declaration of human rights. And after that happens the changes that get implemented should be strategic to that environment. Otherwise those that try to help would end up either making the problem worse or just adding on to the list of issues that they are trying to combat.
